Guiding Principles?

Have you some general rules that you tend to fall back on when you feel uncertain how to proceed?
Here is one of mine that has survived all my life long.

Sometimes living can be habit, can't it?

It would be interesting to know if others have something similar. :-)

You should do it, whatever 'it' is if:

           1. The pay is good, or survival depends on it

           2. You are learning something

                      or

           3. You are having fun.

    1. Now that reminds me of the only thing which I can remember my grandfather telling me. He was a very keen gardener and said that you would never NEED to weed if you weeded before you needed too...

    2. Hmm, I used to procrastinate, but somehow I don't get around to it any more.... Maybe that sounds too cute, but let's just say I agree with you entirely Ellena.

  2. My guiding principle used to be, "life sucks but what can I do about it? people would get upset..." It was actually rubbish and untrue but how was I to know?

I am looking at yours and thinking about how they fit with me now.

    1. What pay? Survival no longer the object, living finally is...

2.Starting from scratch without the usual group learning means that life is all about learning something new.

    3. I rarely did before but I often do now.

    1. And so, it turns out that learning those new things is also fun?

  3. 1. Eat some peanut butter cookies.
    2. Eat some more peanut butter cookies.
    3. Eat yet more peanut butter cookies. BBQ potato chips and root beer are also acceptable.

Works like a charm, every time. :-)

    1. The 'punt' quote could be from what we in Canada call rugby or it could be football too. Canadian football is a bit like the American version but we get only three downs.
We had a car mechanic at one time who had that first quote posted on the wall of the shop. We liked that as you can imagine!

    1. Oh so true! I was very lucky to be employed in a position I wanted for most of my career. There were days when it was work, but more where it was either fun or I was learning something
